Do you know who murdered Michael Lanier?
In the early hours of June 22, 2014, the life of Michael Lanier, a 24-year-old African-American man, was tragically cut short. At approximately 1:47 a.m., Boston police responded to a call for a person shot in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood. Officers arrived at the rear of 6-8 Ernst Street to find a running vehicle with two men inside, both suffering from gunshot wounds.
One of the victims was Michael Lanier, who was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite the efforts of emergency physicians, he was pronounced non-viable. The second victim, also 24 years old, was taken to Brigham and Women's Hospital and was expected to survive. Authorities stated that the shooting did not appear to be a random act.
Michael A. Lanier II, of Everett, was a graduate of Everett High School, Class of 2008. He was a father to three children and the beloved son of Barbara M. Owens and Michael A. Lanier.
To date, the case remains unsolved, with no arrests made and no suspects publicly identified. The Boston Police Department continues to seek the public's assistance for any information that could bring justice to Michael Lanier's family.
