In the winter of 2014, the life of a Springfield, Massachusetts firefighter came to a tragic end at a rest stop in Bernardston. Luis D. Rodriguez, a 38-year-old Hispanic man, was found deceased on December 2, 2014. His death was the subject of an investigation by the Massachusetts State Police, who ultimately concluded that he had died by suicide.
