The incident occurred on Sunday, May 29, 2016, in the Dorchester neighborhood. Police received a call around 10:20 p.m. reporting that someone had been shot at 131 Devon Street. When officers arrived at the scene, they were directed to the adjacent street, 152 Stanwood Street, where they found Godfrey. He had sustained a gunshot wound to the chest.
