In the early evening of November 6, 2017, the life of 37-year-old Brent Stevenson, a Black male, was cut short in a violent encounter on the streets of Boston. The incident unfolded around 6:38 p.m. near the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Boylston Street, in the vicinity of the city's Symphony Hall. Reports from that night describe a chaotic scene where Stevenson and another driver were engaged in a hostile confrontation, ramming each other's vehicles on the busy street.
This
aggressive exchange escalated tragically when the other driver opened fire, striking Stevenson multiple times. Following the shooting, Stevenson's vehicle crashed at 333 Massachusetts Avenue. When Boston Police officers responded to reports of shots fired, they discovered him inside the crashed car, suffering from critical gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a local hospital for emergency treatment but ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Authorities quickly identified the shooting as likely being gang-related and noted that Stevenson was known to law enforcement. The investigation into his death led to the identification of a suspect, Alan Lewis, of Brockton. A warrant for murder was issued for Lewis, who was described as a 38-year-old Black man, standing 6 feet 1 inch tall, with a stocky build, brown eyes, and black hair. He is also distinguished by prominent tattoos on both of his forearms that read "KILLER" and "BEES".
As of recent updates, Alan Lewis remains at large. In an effort to apprehend him, the U.S. Marshals Service has offered a $5,000 reward for any information that leads directly to his arrest. The Boston Police Department continues to investigate the homicide and urges anyone with information to come forward, assuring that the identities of those who provide tips will be kept confidential.
