In the early morning hours of Saturday, August 25, 2018, the life of a 46-year-old Black man, Larry Lewis, was tragically cut short in Springfield, Massachusetts. Lewis was the victim of a shooting that occurred on Waldorf Street. He was quickly transported to Baystate Medical Center for treatment, but succumbed to his injuries and passed away several hours later that same morning.
Remembered as a good-hearted family man and the proprietor of Larry's Auto Sales, his sudden death left his
family and community in mourning. The Springfield Police Department's Homicide Unit, in conjunction with the Murder Unit of the Hampden District Attorney's Office, immediately launched an investigation into the fatal shooting.
In the days following the incident, the Hampden District Attorney, Anthony Gulluni, and Springfield Police Commissioner, John Barbieri, publicly expressed their condolences to Mr. Lewis's grieving family. The investigation into his death was officially declared an open and active homicide investigation. Despite the passage of time, there have been no public announcements regarding any arrests made or suspects identified in connection with the murder of Larry Lewis. The case remains an unresolved homicide, leaving his loved ones without answers and a community still waiting for justice.
