In the quiet North End of Springfield, Massachusetts, the evening of January 25, 2016, was shattered by violence that claimed the life of 71-year-old Juan Zayas, a White male originally from Caguas, Puerto Rico. Around 5:45 p.m., as he and his wife were getting out of their car at their Brookline Avenue home, he was tragically ambushed. Responding to reports of a shooting, police discovered Mr. Zayas in his driveway, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound; he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
