On a tragic Friday afternoon in Portland, Oregon, the lives of Deborah "Debbie" Payton, a 30-year-old White / Caucasian female, and her companion, Shango Wade, were cut short. The date was September 30, 1994, and the couple was seated in Wade's minivan at the intersection of North Killingsworth and Rodney Streets around 1 p.m. when they were approached by a man named Earl Douglas Wilkins.
