In the early hours of September 15, 1995, a sense of camaraderie filled the Bing Kung Tong, a social club located at 20 NW 4th Avenue in Portland, Oregon. Among the patrons was Bing Woon Joe, a 61-year-old Asian man. The quiet atmosphere was shattered at approximately 1:20 a.m. when the door opened and two men, later identified as Vietnamese, entered the establishment.
