In the summer of 2020, a tragedy unfolded in a Northeast Portland neighborhood, forever altering the lives of three families. On the evening of July 17th, police responded to a residence to find a grim scene. Inside, three individuals had been shot and killed in a violent encounter that would later be described as a triple homicide. One of the victims was Lawrence Wayne Murphy, a 77-year-old White male.
