In the early morning hours of August 22, 2021, a burst of violence inside a Portland nightclub claimed the life of 25-year-old JaMarie Herring Sr., a Black male. The fatal shooting occurred at 1:48 a.m. inside the Mingle Lounge located in the 300 block of Northwest Everett Street in Old Town. Central Precinct officers who were on patrol were flagged down and directed to the scene where they found Herring with gunshot wounds.
