In the winter of 1997, concern mounted for 30-year-old Dean Owen Tahtinen, a White male, when he failed to show up for a work trip to Arizona. His brother, Sean Tahtinen, had last spoken to him on January 3rd and was scheduled to take him to the airport on January 5th. When Dean couldn't be reached, Sean initially thought he might have taken a cab.
