On a spring night that should have been filled with celebration, 19-year-old Donté Ward, a Black male, was killed in a burst of gunfire on May 22, 2005, in Huntington, West Virginia. The violent end to his life came in the early morning hours outside his apartment on Charleston Avenue, a place that would become the scene of a brutal quadruple homicide.
