On September 13, 2009, Patrolman Jerry Alan Jones, a 27-year-old officer with the Charleston Police Department in West Virginia, lost his life in a tragic incident involving friendly fire. The events leading to his death began with a pursuit of a suspect that Jones had been tracking.
