On March 5, 2012, Jeffrey Terrell Singleton, a 31-year-old Black/African American man, was killed in a shooting in Beckley, West Virginia. Contemporary information identifies Singleton as being from Charleston, rather than Beckley, and a Charleston Gazette-Mail report described him as an ex-Charleston resident whose killing was being investigated by Beckley police. His death is recorded as a loss to gun violence.
