Dennis Adkins, a 52-year-old man from Beckley, West Virginia, was found dead late on Sunday, July 6, 2025, after a shooting inside a residence that drew state police to the scene just before 10:45 p.m. The quiet of the summer night was broken by the call for help; when a trooper arrived, the man who had been at the center of the disturbance reportedly admitted to firing the shot that ended Dennis's life.
