In the late summer of 2016, the life of a young Black/African American man, Calvin Lee Carlisle, 27, was tragically cut short in Beckley, West Virginia. On August 25, 2016, his body was discovered in the backyard of a residence on Fayette Street, concealed under a pile of tree limbs and brush. An autopsy would later reveal that Carlisle had died from blunt force injuries resulting from a single gunshot wound.
