On March 28, 2020, 31-year-old Adam Michael Bange was fatally shot at the Hargrove Street Apartments in Beckley, West Virginia. According to his girlfriend, Meghan Bange, Adam heard commotion outside and went to investigate, aiming to ensure everyone's safety. During this intervention, he confronted an individual and was subsequently shot while walking away.
The Beckley Police Department responded promptly to the scene, discovering Adam deceased from gunshot wounds and a 42-year-old woman injured with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers apprehended 31-year-old Eric W. Burkhart of Stanaford nearby, finding him in possession of a handgun. Following an investigation, Burkhart was charged with first-degree murder, malicious wounding, and three counts of wanton endangerment. He was subsequently detained at the Southern Regional Jail.
Adam Bange was remembered as a compassionate individual who illuminated the lives of those around him. Born on June 17, 1988, in Hollywood, Florida, he was a devoted father to his sons, Wyatt and Colton, and cherished by his family and friends. Due to COVID-19 restrictions at the time, services were postponed, with plans for a celebration of life to be announced later by his family.
