On April 20, 2023, Malique Shaquille Medley, a 30-year-old resident of Beckley, West Virginia, lost his life due to gun violence. He and his wife, Rhoneka Medley, who was pregnant at the time, were driving in the East Park neighborhood when their vehicle was targeted by multiple gunshots, with the passenger side being hit. Malique sustained fatal injuries and passed away, leaving Rhoneka and their two children, who were also in the car, deeply traumatized.
