In the early morning hours of November 5, 2020, a tragedy unfolded on the West Side of Charleston, West Virginia, that claimed the life of Charles Raymond Barnes, Jr., a 40-year-old White / Caucasian man. Just after midnight, police were dispatched to the intersection of Grant and Russell streets. There, they discovered Barnes lying partially in the street, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the back of the head.
