In the winter of 2015, a Saturday afternoon stroll turned tragic for a young man from Buffalo, New York. On December 19th, 26-year-old Edgardo Ortiz, a Hispanic male, was out walking his dog, Princess, in the vicinity of Busti Avenue and Hudson Street. In an act of sudden violence, Ortiz was fatally shot. His canine companion was also struck by a bullet but ultimately survived the ordeal.
The shooting, which took place at approximately 1:00 p.m., left the community shaken and searching
for answers. In the immediate aftermath, the Buffalo Police Department launched an investigation into the homicide. They appealed to the public for any information that could lead to the apprehension of the person or persons responsible for Mr. Ortiz's death.
Despite the initial investigation and pleas for witnesses to come forward, the case grew cold. To date, there have been no arrests made in connection with the murder of Edgardo Ortiz. No suspects have been publicly identified, and the case is now considered an unsolved homicide.
