Dominque Poindexter, a 22-year-old Black / African American male from Charleston, West Virginia, died on the night of August 1, 2022, after what police described as a fatal accidental shooting inside a home on the city's West Side. The shooting happened at a residence in the 500 block of Wyoming Street, where Poindexter had been spending the evening with another man. Charleston police said the two had reportedly been drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana before the night turned deadly.
