On the evening of January 29, 2021, the community of Hamlin, West Virginia, was shaken by a violent incident that resulted in the death of Bobby Walden Jr., a 60-year-old White/Caucasian male. West Virginia State Police troopers were dispatched to a residence on Maple Street following a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival after 10 p.m., they discovered Walden suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency medical services were called to the scene, and Walden was quickly transported to a local hospital. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries while en route.
The immediate investigation by the state police led to a swift development in the case.
Authorities identified the suspect as the victim's juvenile step-grandson. The young man was taken into custody in connection with the fatal shooting. Following the arrest, a juvenile petition for the charge of murder was filed, indicating the start of legal proceedings within the juvenile justice system. Due to the suspect's age, his identity has been withheld from public record.
