On the evening of April 12, 2005, a resident of a Clinton, Iowa apartment building heard a scream followed by a series of popping sounds coming from a neighboring unit at approximately 11:15 p.m. The following day, the bodies of Steven Kersey, a 32-year-old male, and his live-in girlfriend, Renee Walker, were discovered in their apartment.
