In the early morning hours of September 13, 2013, the small community of Rockwell City, Iowa, was irrevocably changed by an act of violence that claimed the life of one of its own. Jamie Daniel Buenting, a 37-year-old Caucasian male and a dedicated police officer, was shot and killed during a tense standoff. The incident began hours earlier when officers responded to a report that a man wanted on a felony warrant for domestic assault was at a residence on Pleasant Street.
