In the summer of 2021, a promising young life was tragically cut short. Tyliyah Whitis, a 15-year-old Black female from Peoria, Illinois, was visiting her sister in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On July 20, 2021, what should have been a time for family and creating joyful memories turned into a day of profound loss and unanswered questions.
