In the spring of 2006, the life of John Matthew Ruiz, a 44-year-old Hispanic male, came to a tragic end in Brigham City, Utah. A retired U.S. Army drill sergeant, he was fatally shot in the chest on May 7, 2006. The incident that led to his death unfolded after a party hosted by Ruiz and his wife.
