On a Saturday night in Salt Lake City, on November 26, 2016, a confrontation in an apartment on Redwood Road turned fatal for 33-year-old Kenonren Good. The resident of the apartment, 34-year-old Leroy Daniel Valdez, arrived to find himself locked out of his own home. Believing people were inside, he took matters into his own hands.
Valdez, armed with a handgun, first kicked in a window to his roommate's bedroom, startling a woman inside. He then moved to the front door, forcing it open.
