On a late summer evening, the life of Steven Vorise, a 34-year-old Black / African American male, was tragically cut short. On September 6, 2015, in front of his own home on Greenfield Street in Hartford, Connecticut, he was shot multiple times. The incident occurred around 10 p.m. when the city's ShotSpotter technology registered the sound of three gunshots, prompting a 911 call.
Before police could arrive at the scene, Vorise was privately transported to St. Francis Hospital.
Despite the swift medical attention, the gunshot wounds to his face and stomach proved fatal. He was pronounced dead shortly after 10:15 p.m. His death marked the 25th homicide in the city of Hartford for that year, a significant increase from the 19 homicides recorded in all of 2014.
In the aftermath of the shooting, Hartford police launched an investigation into Vorise's death. However, years have passed, and the case remains unsolved. There have been no public announcements regarding any suspects or arrests made in connection with the murder. The case is now considered a cold case, one of many that law enforcement continues to seek information on from the public.
