On August 18, 2016, at approximately 8:22 p.m., Hartford police responded to reports of gunfire near the intersection of Main Street and Cleveland Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered 40-year-old Joseph Jiles lying on the sidewalk, suffering from gunshot wounds to his arm and upper chest. Despite immediate medical attention and transportation to Hartford Hospital, Jiles was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
