In the early morning hours of Friday, October 21, 2022, the life of a 54-year-old man, Raymond Lewis, was tragically cut short in Hartford, Connecticut. Officers responded to a report of a shooting at the intersection of Wethersfield Avenue and Elliott Street around 3:40 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered an unresponsive male at the scene. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, but sadly, he succumbed to his injuries.
The Hartford Police Department later identified the victim as Raymond Lewis of Wethersfield Avenue.
Originally from the island of Kingston, Jamaica, Raymond had moved to the United States in 1978. He attended local schools in Hartford, including Rawson Elementary, Fox Middle School, and Weaver High School. Known for his passion for cooking, he worked as a head chef in several Hilton Hotels in the Hartford area. His life was not only defined by his work but also by the love he had for his family and friends. He was a cherished son, brother, and uncle.
The shooting that ended Raymond Lewis's life was declared the city's 32nd homicide of 2022. The Hartford Police Department's Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
