On December 5, 2016, at approximately 2:41 p.m., emergency medical technicians responded to reports of a person in cardiac arrest at the basketball court behind 24 Victory Drive in New Haven, Connecticut. Upon arrival, they discovered 22-year-old Dontray D. Hammond, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head. Hammond was pronounced dead at the scene.
