A 19-year-old male, Timothy Cantey, was the victim of a fatal shooting in Norwalk, Connecticut, on the afternoon of Thursday, May 20, 2021. The shooting took place at approximately 12:20 p.m. on Suncrest Road. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered Cantey suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was quickly taken to Norwalk Hospital for medical attention but unfortunately passed away from his injuries early the next morning, May 21, 2021.
From the outset of the
investigation, authorities have characterized the shooting as a targeted event, rather than a random act of violence. The case is being actively investigated as a homicide. In the immediate aftermath of the incident, the Norwalk Police Department visibly increased their patrols and presence in the area of the Colonial Village housing complex where the shooting occurred. To date, a specific motive for the shooting has not been publicly disclosed by law enforcement officials.
The investigation into the death of Timothy Cantey has remained open and active, though it is now considered a cold case. Despite the ongoing efforts of detectives, no arrests have been made in connection with the homicide, and no suspects have been formally named. On the third anniversary of the shooting, in May of 2024, the police department renewed their call for anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it might seem, to come forward and speak with investigators.
