A man and woman are found shot to death in their car On the morning of August 6, 2011, Iroquois Alston, a 27-year-old African-American male, was found shot to death in Norwalk, Connecticut. He and a companion, 22-year-old Rickita Smalls, were discovered in a parked car on Avenue B in the Golden Hill neighborhood. A resident of the area noticed the black Honda sedan with a shattered passenger-side window around 8 a.m. and alerted the authorities.
Both Alston and Smalls were found unresponsive inside the vehicle.
Subsequent autopsies confirmed that both Iriquois Alston and Rickita Smalls died from gunshot wounds to the head, and their deaths were officially ruled as a double homicide. At the time of his death, Alston had only been out of prison for a few months, having been released on May 16, 2011, after serving a sentence for robbery. Family members recalled his love for sports, including golf, basketball, and football, and noted that he had earned his GED while incarcerated.
Despite the passage of many years, the case of Iriquois Alston and Rickita Smalls' murders remains unsolved, and no arrests have been made. The Norwalk Police Department has continued to investigate the cold case and has identified persons of interest, though no suspects have been publicly named or charged. A substantial reward has been offered for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for the killings. The families of both victims have made public pleas for anyone with information to come forward to bring them a sense of closure.
