On a Saturday evening in Hartford, Connecticut, the life of 29-year-old Benjamin Garnett, a Black male, was tragically cut short. On October 2, 2021, at around 9:42 p.m., the Hartford Police Department received a notification from their ShotSpotter system indicating that gunfire had erupted in the area of Blue Hills Avenue. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Garnett suffering from a gunshot wound. He was still conscious when help arrived.
