In the city of Hartford, Connecticut, a somber discovery was made on October 25, 2021. Catherine Elizabeth Hayes, a 53-year-old White/Caucasian woman, was found deceased inside her apartment located at 93 Spring Street. The unfortunate scene was uncovered by Hartford police officers who were responding to a call for a possible medical emergency at approximately 1:19 p.m.
Upon their arrival, the officers found Ms. Hayes with evident signs of trauma, including a gunshot wound.

Originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Catherine was the daughter of the late Wasil Kunasz and Catherine A. Gordon. She is survived by her son, Jeffrey M. Hayes, and her half-brothers, David and Daniel Gordon. Those who knew her remembered her as a beloved individual who will be deeply missed.
Despite the ongoing investigation and appeals to the public for any information or surveillance footage that might lead to a breakthrough, the case remains unsolved. To date, no arrests have been made, and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects in connection with the murder of Catherine Elizabeth Hayes. In the wake of this tragedy, her family requested that donations be made to Mothers United Against Violence, an organization dedicated to supporting families affected by violence.
