On the evening of Father's Day, June 19, 2022, Christina Dang, a 27-year-old female, was tragically killed in Hartford, Connecticut. She and her partner, 39-year-old Chase Garrett, were fatally shot in a driveway following what authorities described as a minor dispute with a neighbor concerning a dog. The couple were pronounced dead at the scene, leaving their four-month-old child orphaned.
A third individual, a woman who lived at the same residence, was also critically injured during the incident.
The violence that cut short two lives and forever altered a third was a heartbreaking escalation of a seemingly trivial disagreement. The couple's infant was thankfully unharmed and was taken into the custody of the Department of Children and Families. Christina's sister described her as a "beautiful soul full of life" and a loving new mother to her son, who was born in February of that year. The profound loss was deeply felt by her family, who mourned a life taken over a "senseless argument."
In the wake of the double homicide, police identified a person of interest. Donovan McFarlane, 31, voluntarily went to the Hartford Police Department to speak with detectives after learning he was sought for questioning. While the investigation continues, McFarlane was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a firearm. Police have indicated that he is cooperating with their inquiries into the deaths of Christina Dang and Chase Garrett. Investigators also located a vehicle believed to have been involved in the incident.
