On June 6, 1920, 59-year-old Police Officer Joe Erber of the Little Rock Police Department responded to a disturbance involving an intoxicated individual on a houseboat situated on the Arkansas River near Lincoln Street. Upon arrival, Officer Erber was fatally shot by the suspect.
