In Little Rock, Arkansas, a life was tragically cut short on the evening of May 21, 2024. Akeem Deshun Broadway, a 32-year-old Black male, was fatally shot at an apartment complex on Colonel Glenn Road. The Little Rock Police Department responded to a call around 7:40 p.m. and discovered Broadway with gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Born on September 28, 1991, Akeem was a resident of Little Rock.
Those who knew him recall a man who brought laughter and joy to those around him, someone who loved to dance and spend time with his family. His death left behind his mother, Jean, as well as his children, siblings, and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother.
The investigation into the homicide led by the Little Rock Police Department's Homicide Detectives resulted in an arrest. On October 6, 2024, authorities took 25-year-old Kevion Alexander of Little Rock into custody. He has since been charged with Capital Murder in connection with the shooting death of Akeem Broadway. The case is now proceeding through the legal system.
