In the early evening hours of New Year's Day in 2016, the life of 32-year-old Terry Jones was tragically cut short in Little Rock, Arkansas. Jones was the city's first homicide victim of the year. The incident occurred just after 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of 22nd and Bragg Streets, where police responded to a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Jones had sustained fatal injuries.
For months, the case remained without a resolution as investigators sought leads to
identify a suspect. The Little Rock Police Department appealed to the public for any information that might lead to an arrest in the shooting death of Jones.
In mid-July of the same year, a significant development occurred in the case. With the assistance of the Pine Bluff Police Department, Little Rock authorities arrested Robert Cheeter in connection with the murder. A warrant for first-degree murder had been issued for Cheeter, bringing a long-awaited breakthrough in the investigation into the death of Terry Jones.
