In January 2015, the life of 20-year-old Cody Jay McCann was tragically cut short in what became a harrowing kidnapping and murder case in Pulaski County, Arkansas. McCann, a resident of the Landmark community near Little Rock, was reported missing after leaving his grandmother's home on January 11, 2015. The search for the young man came to a grim conclusion when his body was discovered by investigators near a power line in a wooded area in southern Pulaski County.
The investigation
into his disappearance quickly shifted to a homicide case, leading to the arrest of two initial suspects, Ted Warner and Clifton King. According to law enforcement, Warner confessed to his involvement in the crime, admitting that he and a third suspect, Hiram Contreres, led McCann deep into the woods. King admitted to using tape to bind McCann's hands and cover his mouth. In a brutal act, Warner stated he shot McCann in the back with a 12-gauge shotgun.
Following these confessions, Ted Warner was charged with capital murder. Clifton King and Hiram Contreres also faced charges related to the kidnapping and murder. While Warner and King were taken into custody, a search was launched for Contreras, who was considered armed and dangerous. The motive for this violent crime was not immediately made public.
