In the early morning hours of October 30, 2022, the life of 34-year-old David Royal was cut short in Little Rock, Arkansas. Officers from the Southwest Division of the Little Rock Police Department were dispatched to a residence at 6 York Drive shortly after 2:00 a.m. following a report of a shooting. The caller tragically identified himself as the perpetrator, stating that he had just shot his brother.
Upon their arrival at the scene, law enforcement discovered David Royal suffering
from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical services were called to the location and attempted life-saving measures, but their efforts were in vain. Mr. Royal succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was subsequently transported to the State Crime Lab for an autopsy to be performed.
The investigation into the death of David Royal quickly led to the identification and apprehension of a suspect. Avreyon Carter, the 40-year-old brother of the victim, was taken into custody by authorities. After being questioned by detectives at the Major Crimes Division, Carter was formally arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with his brother's death. He was then transported to the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting is ongoing.
