In the early hours of October 30, 2022, Little Rock Police Department officers responded to a reported shooting at 6 York Drive. Upon arrival, they discovered 34-year-old David Royal suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite immediate medical attention from Metropolitan Emergency Medical Services (MEMS), Royal was pronounced dead at the scene.
