In the early afternoon of a Tuesday in Little Rock, Arkansas, the sound of gunfire broke the calm. On December 6, 2022, police were called to the 11500 block of West Markham Street around 12:46 p.m. to investigate reports of shots being fired. Upon their arrival, they discovered several spent casings scattered in the area, a silent testament to the recent violence.
The scene, however, did not immediately reveal a victim.
A short time later, another call directed officers to a nearby intersection, Markham Street and Chenal Parkway. There, they found 18-year-old Ja’Markeise Gage, a male resident of Little Rock, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Emergency medical services were dispatched to the location, but his injuries were too severe. Ja’Markeise Gage was pronounced dead at the scene. The Pulaski County Coroner's Office later transported his body to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy as homicide detectives and the Crime Scene Search Unit began their investigation, canvassing the area for witnesses and any available surveillance footage.
The investigation into the death of Ja’Markeise Gage led to the identification of three suspects. Authorities later arrested 22-year-old Kadren Frierson, 21-year-old Kevin Pringle, and 20-year-old Carlo Spencer in connection with the homicide. All three individuals were subsequently charged with Capital Murder for their alleged roles in the shooting that ended the young man's life.
