Lora Renae Karras, a 30-year-old female, died on March 19, 2014, at her home in Scranton, Arkansas. She was a mother of three children, working full-time at a Walmart Distribution Center and also attending Arkansas Tech University at Ozark as a student.
Her death was the result of a shooting, an act of gun violence that tragically cut her life short. The incident was particularly harrowing as it was witnessed by three children, aged 15, 11, and 9.
In the wake of her death, law enforcement identified her ex-husband, Joshua Johnson, then 40, as the perpetrator.
Johnson was subsequently charged with first-degree murder. During the legal proceedings, it was mentioned that Johnson had a military background, having served overseas in Afghanistan and Iraq. His family suggested that he suffered from post-traumatic stress syndrome, which they believed could have been a contributing factor in the tragic event. Before the trial commenced, Johnson underwent mental evaluations.
In March 2016, a Logan County jury found Joshua Johnson guilty of first-degree murder in the shooting death of his ex-wife. Following the conviction, he was sentenced to serve 40 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections for the crime.
