Jason Raul Rivera, a 13-year-old boy from Lebanon, Pennsylvania, tragically passed away on February 15, 2022, at Hershey Medical Center. Born on September 8, 2008, Jason was a student at Lebanon Middle School and enjoyed playing basketball, football, and PlayStation. He was remembered for his respectable, fun-loving nature and great sense of humor.
Jason was shot multiple times in the parking lot of his uncle's apartment building in South Lebanon Township. The incident occurred late in the evening, and despite being rushed to the hospital, Jason succumbed to his injuries that same night. The investigation revealed that Jason's uncle, Jose Colon, was involved in drug dealing from his apartment, and narcotics were found in both the uncle's apartment and Jason's room. Jason's uncle was ultimately charged and convicted of drug dealing based on the evidence collected.
The Lebanon County District Attorney's Office, along with the South Lebanon Police Department, conducted a thorough investigation. They collected twelve 9mm shell casings from the crime scene and determined that Jason's killer fired at least twelve shots. The gun used in the murder was later linked to two crimes in Prince George's County, Maryland. However, no suspect has been identified, and the investigation remains ongoing.
