In a tragic turn of events stemming from a neighborhood dispute, 30-year-old Jean Carlos Ortiz Rivera, a male resident of Lebanon, PA, was fatally shot on the front porch of his Lehman Street home on March 9, 2023. The incident unfolded in broad daylight, a shocking act of violence that was witnessed by his wife.

The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to a suspect, Juan Delgado-Rodriguez, then 31, also of Lebanon. Authorities determined that the shooting was the culmination of a 'long and ongoing argument' between the two parties. The immediate catalyst for the deadly confrontation was a physical altercation that had occurred just an hour prior between Ortiz Rivera's wife and Delgado-Rodriguez's sister. Following the argument, Delgado-Rodriguez went to Ortiz Rivera's home and shot him at close range.

Thanks to the help of witnesses and surveillance footage that captured the attack, police were able to swiftly identify Delgado-Rodriguez. He was arrested by the Pennsylvania State Police in the early morning hours of March 10 without incident. Delgado-Rodriguez was subsequently charged with criminal homicide, possession of a firearm prohibited, and carrying a firearm without a license.

During his trial in November, prosecutors presented compelling evidence against Delgado-Rodriguez, including the damning surveillance video and the testimony of Ortiz Rivera's wife, who was a key eyewitness. The defense attempted to shift the blame, accusing another man of the crime. However, the jury was not swayed and convicted Delgado-Rodriguez of first-degree murder. In December, he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
