In a tragic turn of events on the evening of May 10, 2016, Andrew Enimpah, a 28-year-old male, was found dead in his apartment on the 1100 block of Jackson Boulevard in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. Responding to a call at approximately 7:49 p.m., police discovered Enimpah had been fatally shot multiple times. The investigation into his death quickly identified a suspect and painted a grim picture of the final moments of his life.
Investigators determined that Enimpah and an acquaintance, 23-year-old Edras Carrasquillo of New York, were together in the apartment when a verbal argument erupted. The dispute escalated, leading to Carrasquillo allegedly shooting Enimpah multiple times from behind. After the shooting, Carrasquillo fled the scene on foot, heading north. During their investigation of the apartment, police found several bundles of heroin, suggesting the altercation may have been related to a drug transaction. A witness later confirmed being present when Carrasquillo and Enimpah were discussing a drug deal. The witness stated that after Enimpah laid down, Carrasquillo brandished a gun which initially jammed. After fixing the firearm, he proceeded to shoot Enimpah.
Following the incident, law enforcement launched a search for Carrasquillo, who was charged with Homicide and Possession of a Firearm. After his apprehension, the case proceeded to trial in the week of December 4, 2017. The trial concluded with a guilty verdict, and on January 25, 2018, Edras Carrasquillo was convicted of first-degree murder for the death of Andrew Enimpah. He was subsequently sentenced to the mandatory term of life in prison. In addition to the life sentence, he received a consecutive sentence of 4 to 10 years for the firearms offense.
Subsequent appeals were filed by Carrasquillo, challenging aspects of the trial, including the jury instructions. However, these legal challenges were ultimately unsuccessful, and his conviction and life sentence for the murder of Andrew Enimpah were upheld.
