In the small city of Hope, Arkansas, a disagreement between two men escalated into a fatal encounter that cut short the life of 24-year-old Tommy Hamilton Jr. The male victim was found lying in his yard on North Walker Street on the afternoon of Thursday, June 23, 2016, suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest. He was rushed to Wadley Regional Medical Center in Hope, but tragically, he did not survive his injuries.
Authorities quickly identified a suspect in the shooting, 22-year-old
Courvoisier Trotter, also of Hope. It is believed that an argument between Hamilton and Trotter preceded the deadly shooting. Following the incident, Trotter fled the scene in a black, four-door Mazda. The Hope Police Department issued a warrant for his arrest on the charge of first-degree murder.
After nearly two weeks as a fugitive, Courvoisier Trotter surrendered to authorities on Wednesday, July 6, 2016. He was taken into custody and held at the Hempstead County Detention Facility as he awaited his initial court appearance.
