In Hope, Arkansas, on the afternoon of Sunday, February 15, 2026, the life of 20-year-old Rodney Richardson Jr. was tragically cut short. What initially appeared to be a motor vehicle accident on Bill Clinton Drive soon revealed a more sinister story. When Hope Police Department officers arrived at the scene of the crash at 12:56 p.m., they discovered that Richardson, an occupant of the vehicle, was suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency services transported Richardson to Southwest
Arkansas Regional Medical Center, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. As the investigation began, law enforcement was able to determine the location where the shooting had occurred. The case quickly developed as a suspect was identified in connection with the fatal shooting.
Shortly after the incident, 18-year-old Cordarianis K. Hampton, also of Hope, turned himself into law enforcement. While Hampton has been taken into custody, the investigation into Richardson's death remains active and ongoing. Charges against Hampton are currently pending as authorities continue to piece together the events that led to the untimely death of Rodney Richardson Jr.
