In the fading hours of a late March day in 2017, the life of Jermaine Lee, a 23-year-old Black/African American man, was violently extinguished in Birmingham, Alabama. On March 31st, a grim discovery was made in an alley behind the 3000 block of 15th Street Ensley in the Bush Hills neighborhood. Firefighters responding to a vehicle fire found a burning Nissan Altima, and inside, the bodies of Jermaine Lee and his longtime friend, 21-year-old Montel Glenn.
