In the early morning hours of October 7, 2018, the life of 35-year-old Darris C. Davis, a Black male from El Dorado, Arkansas, was tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire. The incident unfolded around 12:40 a.m. in the parking lot of an E-Z Mart located on West Hillsboro Street, a scene that would soon be swarming with police.
Officers from the El Dorado Police Department responded to reports of a shooting and discovered two men suffering from gunshot wounds.
One of these men was Darris C. Davis. Both victims were urgently transported to the Medical Center of South Arkansas for treatment. While the second victim survived his injuries, Davis sadly succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The investigation into the homicide quickly pointed to a suspect: Shamari D. Armstrong, who was 25 years old at the time. A warrant was issued for his arrest on a charge of first-degree murder.
